In order for the translations that come out from under the pen (or rather, keyboard) of translators to be fully professional and meet the client’s requirements, they must take the correct specialized terminology and industry knowledge as well as the cultural context into account. Each of these elements is extremely important, as they directly affect the readability and quality of the translated document. Achieving the intended result with all of the above factors in mind can be very difficult even for an experienced translator.
Even translators with many years of experience benefit from various types of auxiliary tools during their work. The most important of these by far is the glossary, or dictionary. In the past, glossaries were used to explain terms included in texts. They could be found on the last pages of books. Nowadays, the scope of their use is much wider. However, they still play an extremely important role in the translator’s work. They allow to standardize the nomenclature throughout the text and align it with generally accepted industry standards.
Bireta Professional Translations, a leader in the Polish technical translation market, on the basis of more than 20 years of experience and cooperation with the best translators, has created three Polish-English dictionaries. These dictionaries are the foundation in the translation process for our clients. Thanks to them, we use a uniform nomenclature, which we have developed over the years of work on many nuclear power and offshore wind power projects.
Bireta glossaries concern industries that are still developing in Poland, and are often based on foreign know-how. Therefore, it is extremely important for public institutions and private entities to use uniform, correct terminology in Polish. Our glossaries, which we provide free of charge to public offices and institutions, are designed to help standardize the industry nomenclature.
The NUCLEAR dictionary (bireta.pl) is a Polish-English glossary for translations in the field of nuclear energy, which includes more than 1,800 up-to-date terms. It was created in cooperation between Bireta Professional Translations and engineers – specialists in the nuclear power industry. The Nuclear.pl foundation took content patronage over the dictionary.
The Offshore Wind dictionary (bireta.pl), like its predecessor, is also created in the form of a Polish-English glossary. More than 1,200 terms in the field of offshore wind energy can be found in its collection. The authors of the glossary are Bireta Professional Translations in cooperation with ILF Consulting Engineers Polska, an engineering design and consulting company which took patronage over the dictionary and verified the terms contained in it.
The Hydrogen dictionary (bireta.pl) is our latest product, focused on hydrogen technology. The glossary, which like its predecessors has taken the form of an online search engine, contains more than 1,000 terms. All terms are available in Polish-English and English-Polish configurations. The author of the HYDROGEN glossary is Bireta Professional Translations, which we developed in cooperation with specialists who professionally deal with hydrogen issues. The dictionary is under the patronage of the Polish Chamber of Energy and Environmental Protection.
