Quality Assurance
Bireta s.c .distinguishes its market position by offering HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL SERVICES .
We always make every effort for all our translations to be of the highest quality. Our Agency uses only experienced, competent and tested, and above all punctual and reliable interpreters and translators.
To improve the quality of translations and ensure complete consistency of terminology, we use the SDL Trados 2007 Professional (8.0) translation tool, which is the best known and most commonly used CAT (Computer Aided Translation) system on the market. Our Agency possesses network versions (LSP, Power LSP), which allow a number of translators to work on the same translation base simultaneously.
During large translation projects, we create a fixed team of translators that acquaints itself with customer requirements and the specific nature of the project. The Client has access to the CVs of persons that we propose to work on the project.
To ensure the highest quality and consistency of the translation, we create project dictionaries for every Client, which are developed jointly by our Agency and the Client during execution of translation work.
Specialist terminology and specific vocabulary, which the Client desires to have applied in the translation, should be submitted upon placing the order.
All our translations are proof read by the translator; in addition, the price also includes a second person PROOF READING the document to ensure the accuracy of its content, grammar, style.
PROJECT DICTIONARIES
In order to ensure that translations are written in specialist language and don't contain any errors of substance they are always executed by experts from the given field. We also believe that it is very important to work closely with Client representatives on an ongoing basis in order to agree the applied wording and terminology. As a result of such on-going co-operation (co-ordinated by the Agency) a dictionary is compiled, which is handed over to the Client at the end of the given project free of charge. This dictionary also contains the most frequently used terms in the project. To ensure consistent translation, all translators engaged in a project are obliged to adhere to the dictionary. We utilize specialist Multiterm software to create such dictionaries.
Moreover, in order to ensure even better standardization of texts we use CAT - (Computer Aided Translation) TRADOS LSP ver. 8, which supports the work of translators, acting as their computer memory.
TRADOS
The Trados system is a Computer Aided Translation system. The general principles applied by CAT systems are following:
- System operates on the basis of translation units that are whole sentences as opposed to just words,
- translators working in Trados, automatically save every translated sentence (unit) in its database.
In effect if a similar or identical sentence appears further in the translation (the degree of similarity is set by the translator), the system will suggest the most comparable sentence, thus ensuring the text is totally consistent. Dictionaries agreed with the Client can also be uploaded to Trados. Thus during translation, when the system discovers a word or entire phrase that is contained in its database it automatically suggests its translation.
Due to the fact that we possess a network version of SDL Trados 2007 Professional (8.0), several of our translators can work on the same base and have immediate access to translated units of another translator.
PROOF READING
Translations must be checked by a Proof reader to ensure that they are written correctly from a grammatical and stylistic point of view and don't have any other shortcomings. This is the final stage of work, where the style and any possible typing errors are corrected.
Often a "fresh" look by another person can pick out more than the author himself. That is why proof reader's work is so important to ensure a high quality of translation.
PUNCTUALITY
We always try to be as flexible as possible in relation to the needs of our Clients. That's why you'll almost never hear us say "it can't be done in such a short time". However, the truth in translations is that it's almost always the case that time is proportional to quality. Thus the more time we have to perform a translation, the higher quality we'll be able to offer. If we have more time for translation then:
- we can commission the translation to a smaller number of people, which always has an impact on improving quality,
- we have more time to agree the terminology with the Client,
- translators have more time to "grasp" the subject, understand the nature of the given project and even surf the Net for useful sites,
- we have more time to proof read the translation and check the text more precisely.
